OPTIREP – Intelligent optimization in spinning comes to life

Table of Contents

The OPTIREP project has come to an end with solid results that mark a significant leap forward in digitalizing and optimizing the spinning process. Developed by DENN in collaboration with CIMNE and QUANTECH, this project tackled some of the key challenges in metal spinning: high setup times, simulation inefficiency, and the unpredictability of complex geometries and materials.

At its core, OPTIREP merges FEM simulation and Machine Learning to create an intelligent system that recommends optimal process parameters without relying on extensive physical trials.

Among the major technical achievements:

  • Optimized simulation engine with reduced computational time.
  • ML-based trajectory generator for varied geometries.
  • Validation on real spinning machines, confirming the accuracy of the tool.

The result is a powerful digital assistant that improves productivity, reduces cost, and supports the deployment of spinning in high-value manufacturing sectors.
