FLOW FORMING
Control wall thickness, faster.
WHAT IS FLOW FORMING?
Flow forming is a rotary metal forming process in which a tubular preform is rotated over a mandrel while rollers apply controlled positioning to reduce wall thickness and achieve the final geometry. Thanks to precise process control, it delivers highly uniform walls with consistent results and strong material efficiency.
Why choose flow forming?
WALL THICKNESS CONTROL
Consistent, uniform walls through controlled forming and thickness reduction
MATERIAL EFFICIENCY
Forms without material removal, minimising waste and often reducing secondary operations compared with subtractive alternatives
PART PERFORMANCE
Cold forming that supports robust, repeatable components
Have questions?
Send us a plan and we’ll confirm feasibility, with no obligation.
Quick fit check
IS FLOW FORMING RIGHT FOR YOU?
For you if
– Your part is tubular and rotationally symmetric, and wall thickness matters
– You start from a tube or a simple tubular preform
– You need repeatability across batches
Not the best if
– The part is not rotationally symmetric or relies on complex lateral features
– If your part is not tubular
Quick design check
– Define the target thickness and tolerance zones clearly
– Prefer smooth transitions and avoid abrupt steps
– Confirm the starting preform quality and thickness range
– Share any surface finish requirements early
Send us to confirm
– 2D drawing or 3D model
– Material and starting thickness
– Target thickness profile and key tolerances
– Batch size and annual forecast
